Announcing Illinois Tech’s Strategic Envisioning Committee

Dear Fellow Community Members,

We’re happy to announce the formation of the Strategic Envisioning Committee (SEC), which will help inspire new directions for Illinois Tech’s path to preeminence. The committee is composed of various faculty and staff members—a truly diverse collection of our community voices from across the university—who will help design solutions and shape our future, leading to greater growth and prominence for Illinois Tech in the post-pandemic world.

In 2019 we unveiled a new strategic plan that established a framework of key priorities for the university. While we have made substantial progress with respect to implementation of the strategic plan, the once-in-a-century pandemic has cast a long shadow on institutions, communities, economies, and societies. While Illinois Tech has responded well by being extraordinarily student-centric, focusing on operational efficiencies, and ensuring a successful return to campus, new, complex circumstances have arisen that allow opportunities to reimagine higher education in this new era. This requires us to rethink our strategic initiatives from the ground up to ensure that emerging priorities are aligned with our core mission. That is why we have established the SEC, which will work with input from faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders in order to develop actionable strategies to strengthen the university and enhance the 2019 strategic plan.

Here is a link to the full list of committee members and their committee assignments.

Our goals are ambitious, but they are more than matched by our staff and faculty’s extraordinary depth of talent, creativity, and dedication. We’re excited to work with the SEC and all of you to help guide Illinois Tech into a future where the university continues to meet its founding mission while supporting the growth and wider recognition that our university deserves.

Sincerely,

Raj Echambadi
