Community-Engaged Research Funding Opportunity for Early Career Investigators
November 21, 2023Sponsored by the Institute of Translation Medicine (ITM), this 4-hour seminar series targets early-career investigators conducting community-engaged research. Attendees affiliated with ITM will receive assistance with developing community partnerships, and be eligible to apply for $30,000 pilot awards towards direct costs beginning in summer 2024. -
Social Sciences Professor Spending Sabbatical in South Africa and India
November 7, 2023With the support of a small grant from the Illinois Tech Department of Humanities, Patrick Ireland, Professor of Political Science, completed the field research this past March for a project begun during his last sabbatical in AY 2014-2015 that compares the presence and effects of West African migrants in urban spaces in Dakar, Tangier, and Barcelona: how urban development policies shape their lives and livelihoods and, in turn, how they challenge and alter the sociopolitical context, raising questions about rights, membership, and lived diversity. Since July, he has been a Fellow at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study in South Africa, writing up the study results. -

Volunteers With Current Binge Eating Sought for Sleep and Eating Study
August 8, 2023Researchers in the Department of Psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology are seeking participants for a research study examining sleep and other psychological factors that may contribute to eating disorder symptoms, such as binge eating. Participants must be at least 18 years old, assigned female at birth (including gender-diverse adults) and currently experiencing binge eating. -
Researchers Conducting Survey Study for Individuals With Lived Experience of Suicidality
June 20, 2023Researchers from Illinois Institute of Technology's National Consortium on Stigma and Empowerment are conducting a 15-to-20-minute anonymous online questionnaire about people's experience talking about (i.e.) disclosing suicidality. Participants will help researchers understand why people may or may not tell others about their past experiences with suicide. -
Community-Engaged Research Seminar: Pipeline to Funding
April 27, 2023This 4-hour seminar series targets early-career investigators or more seasoned investigators who wish to add community-engaged research onto an existing project. Attendees affiliated with the Institute of Translational Medicine will receive assistance with developing community partnerships and be eligible to apply for $25,000 pilot awards beginning in fall 2023. Those not affiliated with the Institute of Translational Medicine are still eligible to apply and be a part of this training series. -

WISER 2023 Seed-Funding Grant Proposal Deadline Approaching
February 9, 2023Illinois Tech's Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) has issued a Request for Proposals for the 2023 Cross-disciplinary Seed Funding Grants (CSFG) program. Initiated in 2009, the CSFG program is designed to support and enhance new and innovative cross-disciplinary research concepts that are expected to attract major external funding in areas of national interest related to energy and sustainability.
