The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering will host a seminar (co-sponsored by Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 3:15 pm in Perlstein Hall Auditorium, Room 131. The featured speaker is Dr. Donald Hillebrand, Director of the Energy Systems Division at Argonne National Laboratory, who will present an overview of “Advanced Vehicle Technology Research at U.S. National Labs.”
The lecture will address the topic of advanced vehicle technologies with an assessment of the state of the research. It will explore promising new technology paths including the electrification of the automobile, the smart grid, advanced combustion, newly available fuels such as natural gas and alcohols, and autonomous vehicles. The talk will provide a critical look at the new technologies and will address the shortcomings and strengths of advanced vehicle technology currently being researched.
