Please join the College of Architecture for an opening reception on Friday, October 27 from 6–8 p.m. in the Graham Resource Center in S. R. Crown Hall. The reception will mark the international design competition that took place 20 years ago to construct the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC).

The exhibition will be on view on view October 27 through Monday, November 20.

In 1997, Illinois Institute of Technology announced an international design competition for the construction of the first new building on campus since 1971. The finalists included Peter Eisenman, Helmut Jahn with Werner Sobek, Zaha Hadid, Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa, and the Office of Metropolitan Architecture. Rem Koolhaas’ program for uniting academic and residential zones while incorporating Mies van der Rohe’s 1953 Commons Building received top honors. This exhibition traces the competition’s history, the approaches of its entrants, and international critical response.
