Alfred Caldwell Lecture: The Intersection of Public Space, Art, and Social Justice
March 28, 2023Join the College of Architecture’s Master of Landscape and Urbanism program on April 12, 2023, beginning at 5 p.m. for the annual Alfred Caldwell Lecture to explore the intersectionality of public space, art, and social justice. Devon Henry, Franklin Cosey-Gay, and Makeba Kedem DuBose will discuss how memory and representation have expanded the narrative about the built environment. What do we want to collectively remember (or forget) through the symbols that we rise (or raze) in cities? -

Together, we will enjoy live piano performance by acclaimed VanderCook College of Music faculty and musicians, Olivia and Yang, and dance recital by Alberto Velazquez and Amanda Assucena, world-renowned artists from Joffrey Ballet. -

March 7, 2023The College of Architecture welcomes the public to the 2023 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, a biennial ceremony recognizing the excellence of built works in the Americas. Six finalists from across the continent will showcase their projects at a symposium on March 24 at 2 p.m. at S. R. Crown Hall. A private award ceremony and dinner will follow at 7:30 p.m., where the winner will be announced. Register for the symposium and/or purchase tickets for the ceremony and dinner on the MCHAP website. -
