Coming in January 2019: Resetting Your Password and Performing the Annual Certification of Illinois Tech’s Information-Technology Policies

Beginning Monday, January 7, 2019, the entire Illinois Tech community will engage in the annual process of reviewing the university’s technology Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and the Standards of Ethics and Business Conduct policy, the acceptance of which will allow the user to access the university’s information technology resources.

In 2019 the first time you log into the portal on this date, you will first be directed to the Password Reset form. This form provides prompts as you type to ensure that your new password meets the minimum-password-strength requirements. You can learn more about establishing a strong password by reviewing the Use of Technology Resources at Illinois Tech, specifically, Exhibit I, which contains information regarding the Minimum Standards for Passwords, and Appendix A, which provides Password Construction Tips. Please Note: You will need to update your password on each one of your devices that use Illinois Tech’s wireless infrastructure and for any university-provided applications that use your portal credentials for authentication and authorization, including, but not limited to, Google Apps.

Once you have completed the first annual password reset, you will then be directed to the page to review the AUP and the Standards of Ethics and Business Conduct policy and to certify your agreement to the terms and conditions of using the university’s networks, portal, and voice services by clicking on the “I Accept” button.

No matter how many devices you have, you will only need to do the AUP and Standards of Ethics and Business Conduct policy certification once, on one device, and that will cover all of your devices.

Once you have completed the AUP certification, you will be logged out of your session and will be returned to the portal where you must log in with your new password.

If you are on the Mies, Rice, or Moffett campuses and experience any difficulties, please contact the OTS Support Desk by email at supportdesk@iit.edu, by phone at 312.567.3375 (on campus x7Desk), or by stopping by the upper level of Paul V. Galvin Library. If you are on the Downtown Campus, please contact the Help Desk by email at helpdesk@kentlaw.iit.edu, by phone at 312.906.5300, or by stopping by Room 540.
