Commencement Updates For Graduating Students

Will you be participating in the Commencement Ceremonies on May 11? If so, please take note of some important reminders and updates below:

All graduating students are required to wear a cap, gown, and tassel in order to participate in Commencement. Please note: you must bring your regalia with you to the ceremony. There will not be any regalia available that day. If you still need to order regalia, you must do so by 5 p.m. on April 15 (no exceptions). To place an order, please click this link and fill out the necessary information.

Record Your Name

If you haven’t recorded your name pronunciation in the Ceremony Response Form, please do so by April 12, 2024. Professional voice actors rely on those recordings so they can properly pronounce your name for the Commencement ceremony and Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony (if applicable). If you do not leave a voice recording, we cannot guarantee accurate name pronunciation at the ceremony.

Graduate Salute

This is a required event for all graduating students. Please add Graduate Salute to your calendar for April 23, 2024, and plan to arrive at Hermann Hall anytime between 1–7 p.m. with your HawkCard ID. For more information about Graduate Salute and what to do if you cannot attend, visit the Graduate Salute webpage.

Guest Tickets

Students who submitted their Ceremony Response Form and attended Graduate Salute will receive four (4) guest tickets, which will be sent via email starting April 24, 2024. A reminder that all guests (two years of age or older—excluding graduating students) need a ticket to attend Commencement.

College Ceremonies

The 2024 Illinois Tech Commencement will consist of two combined College Ceremonies. The first ceremony (Institute of Design, College of Architecture, and College of Computing) will begin at 9 a.m. CDT. The second ceremony (Armour College of Engineering, Lewis College of Science and Letters, and Stuart School of Business) will begin at 2 p.m. CDT. For more information, please visit the Event Details and Schedules webpage.

As always, please check on the Commencement site for regular updates. We look forward to celebrating with you in May.
