Andrea Bertozzi of the University of California, Los Angeles, will give the 2015 Karl Menger Lecture, “The Mathematics of Crime,” on Monday, March 30, 2015, at 3:15 p.m. in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) Auditorium. All are welcome.
Bertozzi’s lecture will be part of two days of events hosted by the Department of Applied Mathematics to celebrate Karl Menger, who was a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology from 1946-1971. Regarded as one of the finest mathematicians of the 20th century, he made significant contributions to the fields of dimension theory, probability, economics, ethics, geometry, and calculus.
