The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will continue its Seminar Series on Friday, March 8 from 12:45–1:45 p.m. in Siegel Hall, Room 118, featuring guest speaker John Shen, Grainger Endowed Chair Professor at Illinois Institute of Technology, who will present Wide Bandgap Power Electronics: Major Challenges and Potential Pathways for Commercialization.
Shen will talk about how WBG power electronics research has kicked into high gear over the past few years. Numerous power converter designs, in which the existing silicon power devices were simply replaced with new WBG devices, have been reported and have demonstrated tangible performance benefits.
Refreshments will be served.
