English as a Second Language Speaking Courses for International Students

Are you interested in improving your English fluency?  Do you need more structured conversation practice and want to learn conversation strategies that will help you academically and socially?  Do you want to improve your pronunciation?

If you answered yes to these questions, then the following courses may be a great fit for you:

PL 451: Effective Communication I
Effective Communication I is designed to help international students improve speaking fluency and pronunciation. This course will focus on skills and strategies to increase confidence in spoken interactions, both in the classroom and in daily life.

PL 452: Effective Communication II
Effective Communication II is an advanced course in speaking and pronunciation for international students. Topics include developing informational skills, interactional skills, and skills to manage interactions in both academic and social life. Accent reduction and the International Phonetic Alphabet will also be addressed.

The courses are both non-credit (pass/fail only) offered during the spring 2013 term on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 22 – May 2, 2012. The course fee is $1,250.
