As active and engaged members of the local community, we are committed to maintaining our connection with our Bronzeville neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic. As members of the faculty and staff, we are proud to band together to mobilize a new collective fund to support local food pantries in Bronzeville.
The pandemic in Chicago resulted in the loss of thousands of jobs, catapulting the need for food pantry utilization. Please support food insecure families who live in the Illinois Tech community and contribute to one or more of the following community-based organizations that feed the hungry.
While we understand the impact that these uncertain times have on each of our families, we can join together to make a difference. President Alan W. Cramb and Provost Peter Kilpatrick will join faculty and staff in making personal donations to this fund, which will be accepting donations through June 19, at which point the contributions will be distributed evenly to a collection of Bronzeville food pantries identified by the Office of Community Affairs:
- Chosen Tabernacle Food Pantry
- Saint James Food Pantry
- Figueroa Wu Family Foundation Pilsen Food Pantry
- West Point Missionary Baptist Church Food Pantry and Clothing Ministry
- Matthew House Chicago
- Kenwood-Oakland Community Organization
- St. Elizabeth Church Food Pantry
We ask you to please join your fellow Illinois Tech community members in supporting our partner organizations however you can during these challenging times, and thank you for your contributions.
Sincerely,
The Faculty of Lewis College of Science and Letters
