Galvin Library will host a reception to introduce the campus community to its unique collections that feature graphic novels, Japanese film and anime, comic books and role-playing games on Friday, October 25 from 2-4 pm. Over the years Galvin Library, working with student organizations and from small donations, has slowly built collections that can be enjoyed by fans within the IIT community. The library has more than 220 comic books, more than 125 anime and animation DVDs, a small but robust collection of role-playing manuals and handbooks, and in the leisure reading collection, a rotating collection of graphic novels. The library staff will show attendees how to use I-Share and interlibrary loan to dig deep into the depths of other library catalogs to order additional DVDs, graphic novels and other items.
All students, faculty, and staff are invited to stop by for this opportunity to view the collections close up, enjoy a few snacks, and discover a wider community of gamers and graphics lovers. The reception will be held on the upper level, Northeast corner. Headed for a Halloween party later? Costumes are welcome with this crowd.
