Mandatory Password Reset News

On Friday, August 7, OTS began the process of a rolling mandatory password reset; community members will be affected gradually, on different days.

You will know when it is your “turn,” because when you log into, the myIIT portal, you will get a pop-up window that will direct you to reset your password.

Please remember that Illinois Tech has a technology policy that includes minimum-password-strength requirements, some highlights of which are outlined below:

  • A minimum of 8 characters, maximum of 30;
  • At least one upper case letter, one lower-case letter, one number, and one special character (that may not include @, #, or any other Unicode, or have $ as the first character); and
  • It should not contain well-known or publicly posted identification, such as your name, username, and/or A-numbers, etc.

Please Note: After resetting your password, you will need to reenter that new password on each one of your devices that use any of Illinois Tech’s technology services, including the wireless network and all applications.

At a minimum, all community members are required to change their passwords at least annually. As you know, passwords are a critical component of cybersecurity.

Please also remember that no IIT employee will EVER ask you to share your password.

If you have any questions about this, please contact the Support Desk at supportdesk@iit.edu.

Thank you for your cooperation.
