Illinois Tech will be deploying a new voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) telephone system across the university. The current Avaya telephone system is almost 30 years old and has exceeded its life expectancy, as lately demonstrated by some service interruptions.
The plan is to deploy the new phone system in May without any anticipated disruption in service and despite the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order.
Beginning in May, you will be given access to applications that will allow you to place and receive calls via your university extension through an application on your mobile device or PC/mac.
More specific details will follow.
If you have questions about the new telephone system or the conversion process, the Office of Technology Services invites you to visit the project’s website at https://ots.iit.edu/VOIP.
