Notice of Planned Banner Service Interruption–Weekend of June 18-20

For the past several months, the Office of Technology Services (OTS) has been collaborating with approximately 20 university departments and more than 30 end users on an initiative to create and test a recovery plan for the Banner environment and ancillary services in the event of a major disaster.

As you know, Banner is our main university-data authoritative system for students, finance and HR. In the event Banner were to go down for a lengthy period of time, there would be significant impact on Illinois Tech’s operations, including student grading, tuition payments, payroll, etc.

How does this affect me?

During an Extended Maintenance Window beginning after 5 p.m. on Friday, June 18, OTS will be conducting a formal test of this recovery plan, which will make Banner unavailable until 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 21.  This will impact all Illinois Tech campuses.

Please note:  If you have scheduled or are planning to run reports in Cognos and/or ODS-EDW, you will need to run them prior to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 18 or no sooner than 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 21 to ensure accurate, current data.

While OTS’s Project Management Office is leading this initiative, this important risk-containment effort is a university priority, and we thank all of those who have contributed to making this project happen.
