Preparation for University Upgrade to Cognos Version 11

Illinois Tech will be upgrading Cognos, the university’s reporting software, from version 10.2.1 to version 11, also known as “Cognos Analytics.”

The Office of Technology Services (OTS) will be hosting a remote demonstration of Cognos 11 by the vendor on Wednesday, September 4 from 1–2:30 p.m. in the second floor of Tech South, Conference Room 2028.

The demonstration will highlight some of the new tools in Cognos 11, such as:

  • Dashboards – An ad hoc visualization and analysis studio for analyst-type users;
  • Stories – A presentation interface to tell a story via Cognos content;
  • Data Modules – An online data-modeling tool that can act as a replacement for some/many of the Framework Manager features, targeted for power users;
  • Data Sets – A specialized collection of data for reporting, built off of Framework Manager packages and Data Modules; and
  • Explore – An AI experience that allows Watson to make recommendations on insights and visualizations.

There will be a question-and-answer session at the end of the demo.

Space is limited so you may also attend the presentation remotely.  If you wish to do so, please see the below-listed information.

This will be the first of a series of several progressive meetings, each building upon the previous one, to discuss this very important upgrade for Illinois Tech. Heavy end-users’ participation is crucial to making this a successful upgrade, so those members of our community are strongly encouraged to attend.  Your feedback will be invaluable.
