Beginning Monday, January 7, the entire Illinois Tech community has begun to engage in the annual process of reviewing the university’s Use of Technology Resources policy (a.k.a., Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)) and the Standards of Ethics and Business Conduct policy, the acceptance of which allows the user to access the university’s information technology resources.
The first time you log into the portal on or after January 7, you will first be directed to the Password Reset form. This form provides prompts as you type to ensure that your new password meets the minimum-password-strength requirements. You can learn more about establishing a strong password by reviewing Exhibit I in IIT’s Use of Technology Resources policy, which contains information regarding the Minimum Standards for Passwords, and Appendix A, which provides Password Construction Tips. Please Note: You will need to update your password on each one of your devices that uses Illinois Tech’s wireless infrastructure and for any university-provided applications for which you use your portal credentials for authentication and authorization, including, but not limited to, Google Apps.
Once you have completed the first annual password reset, you will then be directed to the page to review the university’s Use of Technology Resources policy (a.k.a., AUP) and the Standards of Ethics and Business Conduct policy and to certify your agreement to the terms and conditions of using Illinois Tech’s networks, portal, and voice services by clicking on the “I Accept” button.
No matter how many devices you have, you will only need to do the certifications for the Use of Technology Resources policy (AUP) and Standards of Ethics and Business Conduct policy once, on one device, and that will cover all of your devices.
Once you have completed the AUP policy and Standards of Ethics and Business Conduct policy certifications, you will be logged out of your session and returned to the portal where you must log in with your new password.
