TA Focus Group on Teaching and Learning – April 24

Are you a TA this semester or this past academic year? If so, we need your input. Please join us for lunch on Tuesday, April 24 at noon to participate in a focus group about being a TA at Illinois Tech. Lunch and a facilitated discussion will run for about 90 minutes. The location is still TBD, but will be announced when it is finalized to all those who RSVP.

The Office Academic Affairs, the Office of Digital Learning, Paul V. Galvin Library, and Lewis College of Human Sciences have started a small steering group to develop a teaching and learning center at Illinois Tech. We want to identify great things you and faculty are doing in the classroom and even more great things you would like to be able to do to better engage students and promote positive learning outcomes. Teaching and learning topics for discussion may include:

  • Defining TA teaching at Illinois Tech: what does it mean to teach “distinctive and relevant education”
  • Identifying ways for supporting and optimizing teaching to better engage learners
  • Gathering ideas for professional development topics for TAs

We realize that this is an incredibly busy time – having a discussion now will help us better plan, organize, and develop faculty development activities for TAs in the coming academic year.

Space may be limited. Please RSVP to attend.
