Judges and Moderators Needed for 2013 Upper Midwest Regional Ethics Bowl Competition

Plan to Attend the Third Annual Boeing Scholars Academy Ethics Bowl
July 8, 2013On Wednesday, July 10, 100 high school students will be participating in the third annual Boeing Scholars Academy Ethics Bowl, as part of the IIT Boeing Scholars Academy summer program. During the afternoon, teams of students will discuss a series of two cases directly related to this summer’s theme, “Challenging Borders, Reshaping Our World.” The ethics cases studies were developed based on ideas from a brainstorming session held with Boeing Scholars Academy students on June 26, and center around the issues of legal limits on over-the-counter medications and how issues of environmental sustainability play out in in one high school’s cafeteria. -
Vivian Weil Honored with the Sterling Olmsted Award from the American Society for Engineering Education
June 20, 2013Vivian Weil, director of IIT's Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions, will be honored with the Sterling Olmsted Award from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) at the organization's annual meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday, June 25. The Sterling Olmsted Award, given by the Liberal Education and Engineering Studies Division, is the highest offered by the ASEE. The award recognizes those who have made distinguished contributions to the development and teaching of liberal arts in engineering education. -
Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions Awarded European Commission ProGReSS Grant
March 4, 2013The Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions has received an award of $108,669 to be the the participant for the United States in a project funded by the European Commission called “Promoting Global Responsible Research and Social and Scientific Innovation” or ProGReSS.
