Jose De Arcos Wins Pengnian Scholarship
July 17, 2013Jose De Arcos, a Ph.D. candidate in physics, has been awarded a Pengnian Scholarship to study at Tsinghua University in Beijing this fall. De Arcos, a student of Christopher White, professor of physics and vice provost for academic affairs, focuses on neutrino physics and has worked on the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment in China. At Tsinghua University, he will be in the nuclear science and technology program in the Department of Engineering Physics. -
IIT Cohosts MICE Collaboration Meeting
June 17, 2013Illinois Institute of Technology is cohosting the 36th Collaboration Meeting of the International Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) with Fermilab, Monday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 19. Dan Kaplan, professor of physics and director of IIT Center for Accelerator and Particle Physics; Pavel Snopok, assistant professor of physics; and Yagmur Torun, associate professor of physics, are organizing the meeting.
