Who You Gonna Call? Get to Know Your HR Staff

The IIT Department of Human Resources has experienced many personnel changes in the past year.  In an effort to help direct IIT employees to the appropriate HR representative for quality service, Human Resources would like to provide some information about the current HR staff, their areas of responsibility and direct contact information.

Toni came to IIT in February of 2011, bringing more than 25 years of human resources experience and 17 years as a department director in a variety of different industries. Toni earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northwestern University and her MBA with a concentration in personnel administration and industrial relations from Saint Louis University. A few years ago, she earned her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification as well as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Toni oversees all human resources functions for the department here at IIT, such as recruiting, performance management, employee and labor relations, training and organizational development,  employee recognition, worker’s compensation, compensation, benefits, and HR strategy.

Sue Parpart, Technical Business Analyst

Sue has been employed with IIT for 12 years with more than 25 years of experience as a programmer analyst. She earned her B.S. from Roosevelt University in economics and her M.S. from Northwestern University in applied mathematics. Sue works primarily in the Banner HR and payroll systems setting up and running reports as well as providing expertise on Banner functionality and improvements.

Louise joined IIT Human Resources in October of 2009. She earned her B.S. in speech from Northwestern University in Evanston and her MBA with a concentration in finance and accounting from Loyola University. Louise is also a licensed CPA, a Project Management Professional (PMP) and has a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. She has 6.5 years of experience in human resources in the areas of retirement plan administration, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA plan design and administration (medical, dental, vision, FSA) and compensation administration. She is the primary contact for these functions here at IIT.

Maria joined the IIT Team in May of 2011. She has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from University of St. Francis and a master’s degree from Benedictine University in management and organizational behavior. She is a certified trainer for Developmental Dimensions International (DDI)
Maria is a contact person for staff recruitment, employee relations, performance management and training and development.

Lisa Horne, Human Resources Assistant

Lisa joined the human resources staff in October of 2011. She was previously in the Architecture department as the assistant to the dean. Although Lisa has not had prior human resources experience, she has 32 years of experience in an administrative capacity in a variety of industries, and is working toward her degree in human resources from Kaplan University. She is the primary contact for issues relating to the entry of HR and payroll data in the Banner system, new hire orientation and general HR questions.

Shelley Stoecker, Human Resources Generalist

Shelley is the newest member of HR team, having started in March of 2012. She received her B.A. in psychology from Coastal Carolina University and her M.A. in industrial/organizational psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  She holds a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) certificate and has been working in the field of human resources for three years. Shelley is responsible for recruiting, training, HR metrics development and reporting, performance management and employee relations.
