Year–End Payroll Dates and Holiday Shutdown/Time Recording

The Payroll Office will be closed from Monday, December 26 through Monday, January 2. It will reopen for business on Tuesday, January 3. Employees will be paid according to the following schedule:

Monthly Payroll: All employees paid on a monthly basis with direct deposit will have their accounts posted on Friday December 30, 2016.
Biweekly Payroll: All employees paid on a biweekly basis will be paid for the period of December 4 through Saturday, December 17 on Friday, December 23.

Hours worked and recorded on the time sheet for the pay period of December 4 through December 17 should reflect actual hours worked. Timesheets and Final Approvals are due to Payroll 4 p.m. on Monday, December 19.

Holiday Shutdown/Time Recording

As Sunday, December 25 and Sunday, January 1 are national holidays that fall on a Sunday, they will be observed on the following Monday, December 26 and Monday, January 2. Eligible non-exempt (hourly) employees who are required to work on December 25, December 26, January 1 or January 2 will be paid for the hours worked plus an additional ½ time for working on the holiday for a total of 1 ½ times their hourly pay rate.

December 27-30 are university holidays. Non-exempt (hourly) employees who are required to work on any of these days must record that time as hours worked on the timesheet. Non-exempt employees will be paid at their regular hourly rate for work performed on December 27–30. Non-exempt and exempt employees, who work any days between December 25 and January 2 may take a floating holiday for each day worked with the approval of the supervisor; provided that the floating holiday is used between Monday, December 12 and Saturday, January 31. Floating holidays issued for this purpose that are not taken by January 31 will be forfeited. There will be no exceptions.

As a reminder, non-exempt employees must record all hours worked on the timesheet and any hours worked over 40 in the work week will be compensated and 1 ½ times the employee’s regular hourly rate.
