Year-End Payroll Dates and Holiday Shutdown/Time Recording

The Payroll Office will be closed from Monday, December 24 – Tuesday, January 1, 2013, reopening for business on Wednesday, January 2. Payroll will pay all employees according to the following schedule:

Monthly Payroll: All monthly employees with direct deposit will have their pay posted to their bank accounts on Friday, December 28.

Bi-weekly Payroll: All biweekly employees will be paid for the period of December 9—December 22 on Friday, December 28; funds will be available on this day.

Hours worked and recorded on the times sheet the week of December 9 – Monday, December 17 should reflect actual hours worked. You will need to estimate hours worked for Tuesday, December 18 – Friday, December 21. Timecards and electronic timesheets are due to Payroll by 5:00 pm on Monday, December 17. THIS MEANS THAT ALL ELECTRONIC TIME SHEETS MUST BE APPROVED BY 5:00 P.M. MONDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2012. Time cards/electronic time sheets received after 5:00 pm on Monday, December 17, 2012, will not be processed for the December 28, 2012, pay day. Biweekly employees with direct deposit will have their pay posted to their bank accounts on Friday, December 28, 2012.

Biweekly timesheets for the period of December 09, 2012, through December 22, 2012, for the pay date of December 28, 2012, are due to the Payroll office by 5:00 pm on Monday, December 17, 2013. If you have any Payroll questions, please call 7-3336 or contact us via email at payroll@iit.edu.

Holiday Shutdown / Time Recording
December 24, 25, 2012, and January 1, 2013– are official university holidays. Eligible non-exempt (hourly) employees who work any of these three days will earn holiday premium pay at the rate of time and one-half plus straight time (equivalent 2-1/2 X).

December 26, 27, 28, 31, 2012, – are four (4) year-end bonus days with pay for eligible employees who continue to work for IIT through Friday, January 11, 2013. Time worked on these bonus days will be paid at straight time.

Should the supervisor/department head decide that offsetting time is not feasible; the department head must record this on the appropriate time document so that additional straight-time wages are paid. Any such adjustment will be made on the January 13, 2012, paycheck if the adjustment is received by the Payroll Office in time for this pay check.

January 2, 2013 – On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 the university re-opens.
