Associate Professor John Ronan’s Gary Comer College Prep finished third in the annual Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design, the foundation announced on February 27. The charter school’s striking green exterior enlivens its neighborhood setting, and it shares facilities with the Ronan-designed Gary Comer Youth Center.
The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design was established to support “architects and project sponsors who, through restoration or new construction, have created buildings and spaces that enhance Chicago’s neighborhoods.
