University Archivist and Campus Historian to Hold Talk on History of Illinois Tech and Bronzeville
August 1, 2024The Office of Faculty Affairs would like to invite all faculty, staff and students to hear about the history of Illinois Tech and stay for a discussion on how we can build community. This 90-minute session presented by Mindy Pugh, University Archivist and Campus Historian, will discuss the history of Illinois Tech and its relationship with the Bronzeville neighborhood. The event will be held online on Monday, Aug. 12, from noon to 1:30 p.m. -
Call for Posters for Welcome Week Student Project Showcase
July 18, 2024Illinois Tech undergraduate and graduate students (including incoming students) who have done research and other professional project work during the last year are invited to present their work at the Illinois Tech Welcome Week Student Project Showcase from 2–4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in the Hermann Hall Expo Center. The deadline to submit a research title and abstract is August 1. -

Camp Douglas Pop-Up Exhibition Educates on POW Camp in Bronzeville During Civil War
June 6, 2024Did you know there was a Civil War-era POW camp in Bronzeville a few blocks away from Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus? The Bronzeville Black Metropolis National Heritage Area and the Camp Douglas Restoration Foundation have curated a pop-up exhibition beginning June 8 at the east side of the lobby in Michael Paul Galvin Tower. A brief program in partnership with the Office of Community Affairs will precede the exhibition opening at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. -

May 14, 2024The Pritzker Architecture Prize and Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture, in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Center, present Community: The Architect as Catalyst for Change, the 2024 Laureate Lecture and Panel Discussion, taking place at the university’s historic S.R. Crown Hall on Thursday, May 16th at 6:00pm CDT. Riken Yamamoto, 2024 Laureate of the Pritzker Prize, will uncover his personal journey in the discovery of communities throughout the world, inspiring his socially-driven architecture that blurs the boundaries between public and private dimensions. -
