    Physics to Hold Joint Meeting with American Nuclear Society April 17 at IIT

    The American Nuclear Society Chicago Local Section and the IIT Department of Physics will hold a joint meeting on Wednesday, April 17, at 6:30 pm in LS 111. Jeff Terry, associate professor of physics, will present the lecture, “Synchrotron Radiation Studies of Advanced Nuclear Energy Materials.” Terry’s talk will focus on the application of synchrotron techniques to measure the electronic structure and the nano- and meso-scale geometric structure of materials of interest to the nuclear community. The methods that have been used to handle radioactive materials safely at synchrotron radiation facilities will also be discussed.

    INTM’s Dan Tomal Keynote Speaker for the Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago’s Quarterly Meeting

    On April 10 INTM adjunct Dan Tomal was the keynote speaker for the Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA),their quarterly meeting held at the Itasca Country Club. He presented an overview of the programs of the School of Applied Technology and especially focused on the industrial facilities specialization, designed for people in the electrical construction field.

    Architecture Faculty to Present at APA Conference in Chicago

    IIT College of Architecture faculty members Marshall Brown and Mary Pat Mattson will present on the panel "Urban Design, Urban Landscape, Urban Plan," at this year's American Planning Association (APA) Conference on Monday, April 15 in downtown Chicago. The focus of the panel will be the intersection of various design disciplines on visions of the city. Relationships between design pedagogy and design practice will be explored among the presentations.

  • Segerstrale Publishes “Nature’s Oracle”

    Ullica Segerstrale, professor of sociology and director of the Camras Scholars program, has published Nature’s Oracle: The Life and Work of W.D. Hamilton. She will give a lecture, “The Edge of Creativity: A Look at the Scientific Life of W.D. (Bill) Hamilton,” with reception and book-signing at IIT on May 2 from 3:15-4:50 p.m. in Perlstein Hall Auditorium.
