IIT Biology and Environmental Engineering Researchers Explore How VHb Enhances Ethanol Production in E Coli in Diverse Growth Media
February 8, 2012Biology and environmental engineering researchers at IIT describe how Vitreoscilla hemoglobin (VHb) can enhance ethanol production in Escherichia coli in a variety of growth media by increasing the oxygen supply in a new article in Biomass and Bioenergy. The work is an important step in research in the production of ethanol from biomass. -

February 6, 2012February 5 marked the start of Recyclemania, an eight-week competition among universities in the United States and Canada to see who can recycle the most (by volume and per capita). IIT placed second in the state of Illinois in 2011 and we are looking to take the top spot this time around. -

Save the Ramova Fundraiser on February 11
February 1, 2012The IPRO 364-Ramovation student teams have worked for several semesters with the City of Chicago and Save the Ramova/Friends of South Halsted to restore and reopen the Ramova Theater at 3518 S. Halsted as a performance space. On February 11, the near South Side neighborhood group Friends of South Halsted will hold a "Ryan Runs For The Ramova" fundraiser.
