November 12, 2024In September 2024 the United States Food and Drug Administration awarded Illinois Tech’s Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) $3.9 million for the first of a five-year cooperative agreement renewal continuing to support its history of success working toward safer and more wholesome food. -

Dr. Jason Wan Honored as Fellow of International Academy of Food Science and Technology
September 26, 2024Dr. Jason Wan has been inducted as a fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST) for his significant contributions to the field of food science. Dr. Wan serves as the associate director at the Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH), director at the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA), and professor of food science at Illinois Tech. -
Poster Session at Real Time Communications Conference 2024
September 24, 2024The Real Time Communications Conference 2024, an International Conference of the IEEE, is pleased to host a poster presentation and best Poster Award. Cash prizes for best posters will be awarded. The poster sessions will be held in Hermann Hall on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 8. To enter the competition, please submit a short abstract by October 1 that outlines the scope of the project that your poster will describe. -
Paid Research Opportunity for Students at the Biological Rhythms Research Laboratory of Rush University Medical Center
September 17, 2024The research team at the Biological Rhythms Research Laboratory of Rush University Medical Center has studied sleep patterns and the 24-hour (“circadian”) clock for over 30 years. Currently, they are conducting an NIH-funded study about the timing of bright light to reset the body clock of young adults to make it easier to sleep at an earlier clock time. The results of this study could be used to develop strategies for young adults who need to reset their body clock for things that require waking up early like classes and work. The study is 2 weeks long, and participants stay in Rush's lab for a total of 7 days. Participants will be paid $925 for successfully completing the entire study. -
Fall Schedule for Illinois Tech Responsible Conduct of Research Workshops
September 5, 2024Funding organizations such as the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health recently issued new training requirements to make sure that everybody is on the same page and conducts studies responsibly. Awardees of federally funded grants must complete the mandatory training, “Responsible Research and Building an Ethical Culture.” Please register for one of two workshops on October 25 and November 15. -

August 20, 2024Undergraduate and graduate students who are familiar with or have interacted with the ChatGPT tool are invited to participate in a study to assess usability impacts on student’s perception of ChatGPT. MMAE Chair Louis Cattafesta’s Team Receives Office of Naval Research (ONR) Grant
