June 10, 2025In a small study, eating a daily cup of chickpeas lowered people’s cholesterol, scientists report June 3 at the annual American Society for Nutrition meeting. And a cup of either chickpeas or black beans per day reduced inflammation. -

June 10, 2025This presentation will discuss how Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach was used to engage women of African descent in identifying barriers and facilitators to genetic testing for inherited breast cancer. Focus will be on the process of building trust with community team members, fostering equitable partnerships, and ensuring community engagement throughout the entire research process. -

Community-Based Participatory Research Training & Research Award (CBPR-TRA)
March 11, 2025The CBPR TRA is to train and then provide resources for two ITM investigators. CBPR-TRA investigators can request up to $10,000 in the first year, with $5,000 each for the investigator and community leader. In the second year, teams can propose a pilot CBPR project with a budget of up to $30,000. Apply by April 15. -

February 11, 2025The Pritzker Institute of Biomedical Science and Engineering is solicitating fellowship applications for the 2025–2026 academic year for highly qualified Illinois Tech doctoral students pursuing thesis work in the field of biomedical science or biomedical engineering. The institute will host a workshop for Illinois Tech faculty on Wednesday, February 19, from 12:50–1:45 p.m. on Zoom and in the lower-level conference room C/D located in the Tech Business Center, 3440 South Dearborn Street.
