ECE Seminar Series Continues February 17 with Talk on Self-Organization

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will continue its Seminar Series Friday, February 17, from 12:45–1:45 p.m. in Siegel Hall, Room 118, featuring guest speaker Ming Zhong, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology

In his talk, “Machine Learning of Self-Organization from Observation,” Dr. Zhong will talk about self-organization (aka collective behaviors) occurring naturally in crystal formation, cell aggregation, social behaviors, etc. It is challenging and intriguing to understand self-organization from the mathematical point of view. We offer a statistical/machine learning approach to explain self-organization from observation data; moreover, our learning approach can aid in validating and improving the modeling of self-organization.

This seminar is open to everyone at Illinois Tech. For more information regarding this seminar, please contact the ECE department at 312-567-3400 or ece@iit.edu.
