    IIT will upgrade Blackboard for the fall semester on Friday, August 16. The new version introduces global navigation and a dashboardcalled My Blackboard, which will centralize information from across your courses. There is also an improved calendar that will allow you to integrate your Blackboard calendar with iCal or Google.

    Divvy, Chicago's new rental bike sharing system for short trips (30 minutes or less) now has a location on Main Campus at 35th and State streets, just south of IIT Tower.

    VanderCook Music Courses for IIT Students

    Each semester, VanderCook College of Music welcomes IIT students into its program. These students participate in music classes, play in ensembles, take private lessons and are a valued part of the student body. IIT students may take classes at VanderCook not only for enrichment but also to fulfill humanities electives or to even earn a music minor. Registration for IIT students interested in taking fall 2013 VanderCook classes opens on Monday, August 19 at 8:00 am. Registration ends Friday, September 6 at 3:00 pm.

    Faculty Demo and Info Session on Classroom Technology

    IIT’s Office of Technology Services is offering a hands-on demonstration and informational session for faculty members who are new to Main Campus classroom technology or interested in learning more about using the equipment in their classroom instruction. Two sessions are offered: Thursday, August 15 from 10:00–11:00 am in IIT Tower, Room 6DC1 and Tuesday, August 20 from 12:40–1:40 pm in Wishnick Hall, Room 113.

  • Register for the New Course on Biometrics This Fall

    The new course "Biometrics" offers an introduction to major biometric techniques, the underlying pattern recognition and computer vision basis for these biometrics, scientific testing and evaluation methodologies of biometrics systems, a deeper study of facial recognition, and an examination of the current privacy and social/ethical issues surrounding this technology. The course includes readings from the literature, short writing assignments and practical experience with current biometric technology.

    Cinema Fans Can Explore the Films of Stanley Kubrick at Shimer College

    Some seats still remain in the Shimer College fall semester film elective exploring the cinema work of Stanley Kubrick. The course couples weekly screenings and background readings with Shimer’s unique discussion format classroom experience. IIT students are welcome to register for either of the two offered section of the course and will earn three automatically-transferred IIT credits at the 300-Humanities level.
