Important Safety Considerations During Heat Wave
July 18, 2013The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory (see full story) for the city of Chicago until 7:00 pm today, July 19. The City of Chicago offers a number of important safety precautions (see full story). If you or someone you know needs immediate assistance, call IIT Public Safety at 312.808.6363 or 911. The exceptionally high temperatures forecasted for today and tomorrow are a reminder to us all how much we depend on our energy resources. Please pay special attention to simple energy saving actions such as turning off lights, computers and other equipment when not in use. -
Caryn Schnierle Named Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Management
June 4, 2013Vice Provost for Admission and Financial Aid Mike Gosz is pleased to announce that Caryn Schnierle has been promoted to associate vice provost for enrollment management. Schnierle, who most recently served as the director of enrollment management research, has been integral in developing a culture of data-driven decision making in undergraduate admission and financial aid. In her new role, she will report to the vice provost for admission and financial aid, and will create and execute an action plan that effectively advances the significant undergraduate enrollment goals of the university. -
IRS Announces Business Mileage Rate Increase for 2013
January 7, 2013Effective on January 1, 2013, the standard mileage rate for privately owned vehicles while on official IIT business will increase to 56.5 cents per mile from 55.5 cents per mile. IIT’s 2013 travel expense report has been adjusted to reflect the new rate. -
ComEd Work Along State Street
December 20, 2012ComEd is in the process of running a new transmission line from south of Main Campus to Chicago's Loop. This new line will be installed in the west lane of northbound traffic on State Street. Work will begin in early January 2013 with a new vault installed just north of 31st and State streets. -
