Suspect a Citation or Reference May Be Fictional? Galvin Librarians Can Help
March 23, 2023Generative AI chatbots (ChatGPT in particular) can be asked to generate citations or references, but when they do the end result may contain errors or be completely false. If you encounter writing sources, citations or URLs you think may be fictional, Galvin librarians can help. We can even check if a link or URL was ever functional, or if it’s merely broken and/or outdated. Send your suspect items to us at library@iit.edu and we’ll use our expertise to evaluate them for you.
