Midwest Mechanics Seminar Series: ‘Dissecting the Causality of Pressure Forces in Vortex Dominated Flows,’ Featuring Rajat Mittal
August 8, 2024The Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering present the Midwest Mechanics Seminar Series featuring guest speaker Rajat Mittal, professor of mechanical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University, who will give a presentation on “Dissecting the Causality of Pressure Forces in Vortex Dominated Flows—From Fish Schools to Noisy Drones.” This event is open to the public and will take place on Wednesday, September 11, from 12:45–1:45 p.m. in room 104 of the Rettaliata Engineering Center. -

March 5, 2024The Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering will host Dan Henningson, professor of fluid mechanics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, for a seminar titled “Large Scale Numerical Experiments of Unsteady Aerodynamic Flows and the Role of Laminar-Turbulent Transition” on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 12:45–1:45 p.m. in room 104 (auditorium) of the John T. Rettaliata Engineering Center. -

October 17, 2023The Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering present the Midwest Mechanics Seminar Series featuring guest speaker Alison Marsden, the Douglass M. and Nola Leishman Professor of Cardiovascular Disease in the Departments of Pediatrics, Bioengineering, and Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, who will give a presentation on “Multi-Physics Modeling of Flow and Cardiac Function in Pediatric Cardiology.” This event is open to the public and will take place on Wednesday, November 8, from 12:45–1:45 p.m. in room 111 of the Pritzker Science Center. -
