Camp Douglas Pop-Up Exhibition Educates on POW Camp in Bronzeville During Civil War
June 6, 2024Did you know there was a Civil War-era POW camp in Bronzeville a few blocks away from Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus? The Bronzeville Black Metropolis National Heritage Area and the Camp Douglas Restoration Foundation have curated a pop-up exhibition beginning June 8 at the east side of the lobby in Michael Paul Galvin Tower. A brief program in partnership with the Office of Community Affairs will precede the exhibition opening at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. -

December 5, 2023Please join the Office of Community Affairs and support the Center for New Horizons for a Winter Accessory Drive. Located in Bronzeville, Centers helps over 6,000 families daily. Please donate new warm hats, gloves, and scarves for infants, toddlers and kids with ages ranging from 5 to 18. Drop off at Michael Paul Galvin Tower, 10 W. 35th St., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday through December 22, 2023. -

November 28, 2023The Vanguard Jazz Society and the Office of Community Affairs at Illinois Tech present the 3rd Annual Holiday Jazz Concert, featuring the Jeff Chan Quartet, on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Schultz Auditorium at Michael Paul Galvin Tower, 10 W. 35th St. Set 1 begins at 3 p.m. and Set 2 begins at 4:30 p.m. The event is free to he public, and free parkig is available in Lot D4. Come shop some local small businesses that will be selling candles, art, clothing, tea, skincare products, and more. -
Donate Winter Clothing for Office of Community Affairs Winter Coat Drive
October 31, 2023The Office of Community Affairs is running a coat drive October 31 to November 20, 2023, to help migrants this winter. Help collect 200+ gently used or new coats, hats, and gloves for men, women, and children and drop them off 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at the Office of Community Affairs Conference Room a Michael Paul Galvin Tower, 9D-41.
