IIT Leading International Project To Automatically Understand Metaphors in Large Volumes of Text
May 9, 2012An international, interdisciplinary team of researchers led by Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Associate Professor of Computer Science Shlomo Argamon is developing a software system capable of identifying and understanding metaphors in multiple languages from very large amounts of data gathered from the Internet and other open sources. -
Patrick Ferrell and Kylin Fisher Receive 2012 Justice John Paul Stevens Public Interest Summer Fellowships
May 9, 2012IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law students Patrick Ferrell and Kylin Fisher have been awarded Justice John Paul Stevens Public Interest Summer Fellowships. Ferrell and Fisher will each receive $5,000 to support their work in summer public interest law positions. -

These awards recognize exemplary accomplishments in research, scholarship, and creative activity by IIT faculty members and graduate students. The awards will be presented at the Sigma Xi Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 9 in the Pritzker Club. -
Master of Landscape Architecture Student Fa Likitswat Wins Schiff Foundation Fellowship
May 8, 2012MLA student Fa Likitswat has won the 2012 Schiff Foundation Fellowship for her work in Adjunct Professor Terry Guen’s fall 2011 graduate studio, “Catalytic Waterways.” The studio explored urban conditions adjacent to Chicago’s river and canal systems in order to design a new sustainable city form that integrates natural ecosystem types into the urban fabric. -
