September 12, 2012The Machine Learning Reading Group at IIT meets every other Thursday from 11:00 am–noon at Stuart Building, Room 233 to discuss papers on machine learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, and related areas. Public Safety Forum (Updated)
September 11, 2012IIT Department of Public Safety will be on the MTCC bridge from 11 am - 3 pm on Tuesday, September 18 to talk with students and staff about safety and security on campus, especially bicycle security. Public Safety will provide demonstrations on the correct methods and devices used to secure bicycles and raffle off five U-Lock bicycle lock devices. -
Actuarial Science Club Welcome Tea and New Courses
September 11, 2012The Actuarial Science Club will hold a welcome tea on Friday, September 14 in E1-102 from 1:30–2:30 pm. Additionally, Lulu Kang, assistant professor of applied mathematics, has developed two new courses to benefit students pursuing careers as actuaries: MATH 484 “Regression and Forecasting” and MATH 564 “Applied Statistics.” Check out the club's Facebook page to find out about recent activities. Lake Street in downtown Chicago). Co-sponsored by WorldChicago, Harold Washington College, and Illinois Institute of Technology, this careers-focused event will welcome current professionals from business, technology, nonprofit, and the arts and architecture sectors as discussion leaders. -
IIT Open Access Student Advocacy Group Meeting
September 10, 2012The Internet and other emerging technologies have made possible a cheaper and more efficient model where anyone can access high quality scholarly literature. Come to the first meeting of IIT’s Open Access Student Advocacy Group to learn more and to help show that IIT supports an open access publishing system. The event will be held in the Paul V. September 7, 2012An ADA Awareness Day event will be held on Monday, September 10 in S. R. Crown Hall. It is a great opportunity for students to experience what it is like to move around campus while being physically and/or visually impaired, and to try to experience the event's motto: “You can’t really know a person until you walk a mile in their shoes.”
