Take Precaution in Workspaces During Extreme Heat
August 27, 2013A special message from the IIT Office of Facilities and Public Safety: With extreme temperatures, the capacity of IIT's air-conditioning systems on campus has been pushed to the limit. There may be instances where interior space is not sufficiently cool. If your workspaces become too warm, please move to a cooler location, avoid strenuous work, take breaks, and drink water. This OSHA link provides further guidance for avoiding heat-related illness in the workplace. -
Important Safety Precautions During Extreme Heat
August 26, 2013The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for the city of Chicago for today and Tuesday, August 26 and 27. During the summer months, temperatures in Chicago can reach dangerous levels. Besides discomfort, extremely high temperatures, especially when combined with high humidity, can pose serious harm to your personal health. Extremely high temperatures can be particularly hazardous for children, the elderly, those with special needs and pets.
