New Digital Humanities Series in the Fall
July 5, 2012For the 2012–2013 academic year, the Department of Humanities will hold a speaker series titled Goals and Boundaries in the Digital Humanities. The series will feature speakers from outside IIT and from departments across IIT to discuss the current state of the art in digital humanities and explore disciplinary issues within the emerging field. -
Spanish Language and Culture Course Returns this Fall
July 5, 2012Spanish language and culture courses are back, after a two-year-long effort by representatives of the Student Government Association. The Department of Humanities is once again offering a series of four sequential Spanish courses over a two-year period, with the cycle beginning anew each fall semester. -
In announcing the return of ThinkChicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel pledged to keep successful tech startups in Chicago and highlighted recent IIT computer science/psychology graduate Neil Gupta, whose startup Tabule, offering an application-based classroom productivity tool, was incorporated with seed money from Catapult this month.

IIT Research Assistant Professor Bhoopesh Mishra, who works on the MRCAT/EnviroCAT x-ray beam line at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory and recently published a study on how to use bacterium to prevent mercury from becoming airborne in the Journal of Environmental Science and Technology, is profiled by Phys.org.

Students Learn About Uncertainty Quantification at the SAMSI Modeling Workshop
June 21, 2012Barrett Leslie (AMAT 4th year) recently completed the undergraduate workshop at the Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI). The weeklong program was held at SAMSI in Research Triangle Park and at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.
