February 8, 2012Biology and environmental engineering researchers at IIT describe how Vitreoscilla hemoglobin (VHb) can enhance ethanol production in Escherichia coli in a variety of growth media by increasing the oxygen supply in a new article in Biomass and Bioenergy. The work is an important step in research in the production of ethanol from biomass. -
2012 CSL Undergraduate Summer Research Stipend Program Nomination Deadline Approaching
February 3, 2012IIT College of Science and Letters Associate Dean for Academics Matt Bauer announced that the college is accepting nominations for $5,000 CSL Undergraduate Summer Research Stipends. Up to eight stipends will be awarded. All CSL majors are eligible, and all IIT faculty may nominate a student. Nominations are due by Friday, March 9. -

Computer Science’s Shlomo Argamon to Help Develop NIH-Funded Tool to Improve Health Care Delivery and Cost-Effectiveness
January 18, 2012Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) associate professor of computer science Shlomo Argamon will help develop a software system to improve health care by automatic identification of research results relevant to individual patients in a project funded by the National Institutes of Health. -
