    A Few Seats Remain for ‘A Closer Look at the Million Dollar Sermon’

    Join the Paul V. Galvin Library for A Closer Look at the Million Dollar Sermon, a PowerPoint presentation with accompanying live narration by the University Archivist and Campus Historian Mindy Pugh, anchored on documentary evidence about the Rev. Frank Gunsaulus’ sermon and the founding of the Armour Institute of Technology (and by extension, Illinois Tech). It seeks to inform the present university community about what is known—and what might never be known—about a sermon whose impact is undoubted but which also merits further investigation.

    Nominations Open for Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Award

    The Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs is now accepting nominations for the Lincoln Academy of Illinois Student Laureate Award. This award honors an outstanding senior from each of the four-year degree granting institutions of higher learning in Illinois. Student Laureates are honored for their overall excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities. The student must be a senior with no less than a 3.0 cumulative and major grade point average.

    Illinois Tech CyberHawks Win Regional Championship

    On Saturday, April 1, students from Illinois Institute of Technology’s cybersecurity student organization, CyberHawks, won the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE) Cyber Games Midwestern Regional 2. The CyberHawks faced off against nine teams from eight other universities and surpassed their previous top score at last year’s Midwestern Regional and National Championships.

    Volunteer for Half-Day at Greater Chicago Food Depository

    Join the Office of Community Affairs for a half-day of service on Wednesday, April 26, at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, 4100 W. Ann Lurie Place. We will repack donated and purchased food into manageable sizes for distribution at food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens. In collaboration with Illinois Tech's Human Resources department, your service hours off-campus will be paid.

    Department of Computer Science Hosts Turing Award Winner and Illinois Tech Alum Jack Dongarra

    The Department of Computer Science will host two events to honor Jack Dongarra (M.S. CS ’71), winner of the 2021 ACM A.M. Turing Award on Wednesday, April 12. The first will be a lecture at 12:45 p.m. at in Hermann Hall Ballroom, followed by a reception at 1:45 p.m. in Herman Hall's Gallery Lounge. Then at 4:30–5:30 p.m., come to Tellabs Alley at Kaplan Institute for a Fireside Chat and Q&A, moderated by Sunny Shah.

    Armour Institute Yearbooks Digitized and Now Searchable Online

    Yearbooks from the Armour Institute of Technology, one of Illinois Tech’s predecessor universities, are digitized and freely available on the Internet Archive. The collection, spanning four decades from 1898 to 1940, includes The Integral, Senior Class Book, and The Cycle.

    Join the Out of the Darkness American Foundation of Suicide Prevention Campus Walk

    Join us on Saturday, April 15, at 2 p.m. for a Campus Walk sponsored by the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. The event will be a fundraising opportunity for the AFSP as we raise money for suicide prevention and mental health resources. To encourage donations, we will be offering AFSP shirts and merchandise, as well as auctioning donated items from the White Sox, including a signed game ball by pitcher Lance Lynn.
