  • CTA Red Line Construction Begins May 19

    The CTA provided more details this week about the upcoming construction project, first announced in June 2012, that will shut down 10 miles of track and nine stations on the south Red Line, from the Cermak-Chinatown stop all the way to 95th Street, for five months.

    Illinois Institute of Technology Recognized for Pioneering Work with CBORD’s Mobile-Enabled Security Solutions

    IIT received the 2013 Innovative Technology Award from the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) at the the 20th Annual NACCU Conference in Orlando in April. The award recognizes an institution that has introduced a unique, technology-based solution on campus. IIT recently implemented several new mobile-enabled security solutions for door access to better serve its students and staff using CBORD's leading CS Access solution.

  • Scott Turow to Address 2013 IIT Chicago-Kent Graduates on May 19

    Attorney and author Scott Turow will deliver the keynote address at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law's 2013 Commencement on Sunday, May 19. Scott Turow is a partner in the Chicago office of the international law firm SNR Denton (formerly Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal), where he has specialized in white-collar criminal litigation since 1986, while also devoting a substantial amount of time to pro bono matters.

  • IIT Architecture Alumni Team Places 2nd in San Fernando Valley Design Competition

    A team of IIT College of Architecture alumni placed second in a design competition for a 20-unit affordable housing complex in California. The "Beyond the Box" team consisted of Matthew Abbott (ARCH ′11), Aric Austermann (ARCH ′11), Ryan Bloom (ARCH ′11), Marcos Guerrero (AE ′12), Mark Swingler (ARCH ′11) and mentor Steve Beck (ARCH ′89).

  • MMAE Grad Student Wins MAGS Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award

    MMAE Grad Student Wins MAGS Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award

    MMAE graduate student Amirhossein Arzani recently won the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award. This award recognizes and rewards distinguished scholarship and research at the master’s level. To be considered, a thesis must contain original work that makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline. Arzani won a $750 cash prize and traveled to present his work at the MAGS Annual Meeting in Minneapolis in early April.

    IIT Students Take Four “GEN 10” Awards for Excellence in Scientific research

    Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News (GEN) announced its “GEN 10” Award winners at the BIO International Convention in Chicago last week, honoring ten Chicago graduate students and postdocs for for excellence in scientific research, four of whom study at Illinois Institute of Technology: Konstantin Andreev, Arathi Jayaraman, Sun Kim, and Stephanie Kunkel.

    Friday, April 26, 2013 marked the culmination of the fall semester’s Interprofessional projects (IPRO). More than 55 teams exhibited and presented their semester-long work. Dedicated panels of workplace professionals faculty and graduate students spent the day judging the IPRO Projects, and voted on the best exhibits and presentations.
