  • John W. Rowe, University Regent and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, to Be Honored by IIT with the Galvin Award

    University Regent and Chairman of the Board of Trustees John Rowe is the recipient of this year’s Galvin Award, which was established for IIT to honor non-alumni for their leadership and dedication. The award is named for the first non-alumnus chairman of the IIT Board of Trustees—Robert W. Galvin. The Galvin Award recognizes an individual whose service, leadership, and philanthropy have significantly advanced the university.

    IIT WISER to Co-Sponsor 2013 UIC Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy

    IIT’s Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) will serve as a co-sponsor of the 2013 Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy (SISE), to be hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago from August 5–16. The SISE theme, “Sustainable Transportation,” will feature a two-week intensive workshop for graduate and senior-level undergraduate students from a broad range of disciplines. Several IIT faculty will serve as instructors for the program. Participants should have an expressed interest in sustainability and energy as evidenced by either educational or practical experience.

    Inclusive Language Focus Groups

    The Office of Campus Life is trying to make a BIG impact on campus and bring everyone closer together as a community. We're hoping that you will take part in this effort. Over the next couple of weeks, Campus Life will be holding one focus group each week to better understand what verbal language students at IIT use consistently and feel are inappropriate, and/or not inclusive of all genders/sex/ethnicities. We want to know what can be done to make language more inclusive for all students.

    Have you ever wanted to give the IIT Office of Campus Energy and Sustainability a piece of your mind? Bounce ideasoff of staff members? Get real reasons why certain sustainable practices haven't been implemented at IIT? (Like, green roofs, for example?) Bring your questions, concerns, comments and ideas to the April Sustainability Forum, which is all about collaboration. We'll start by telling you what we've done so far, and spend most of our time letting you tell us what you think. The forum will be held on Friday, April 19 from noon–1:30 pm in S. R. Crown Hall.

Come learn more about the garden, how to be a part of it, how to grow your own food, and more!
