  • Switch Your Google Docs Interface to Google Drive (Updated)

    As part of your Google Apps for Education at IIT, you have access to a Documents list where you can upload documents, create Google docs, forms, spreadsheets and more. Google is changing the interface for Documents to Google Drive this month. If you have already opted-in to use Google Drive, you will not see any change. If you do nothing, when your account is switched to the Google Drive user interface, it will replace your existing Documents List, without losing any of our existing files.

    Only five days and counting! Thanks to the OTS Blackboard team, spring 2013 courses will be loaded into the new version of Blackboard and made available to faculty on Monday, November 5, instead of later in November.

  • Connect to IIT-Secure Wireless on Main Campus

    Connect to IIT-Secure Wireless on Main Campus

    OTS is in the process of upgrading the wireless infrastructure on Main Campus to a secure network that protects users by encrypting all data sent between their device and wireless access points. In early 2013, OTS will retire the non-encrypted “IIT-WiFi” wireless network.

    Blackboard 9.1 will be the live university learning management system in January 2013. Faculty have access to the system now! You can explore 9.1 as an instructor in your own permanent course shell. You can even import content from one course or multiple courses in Blackboard 8 into that permanent space in 9.1.

  • Google Groups and Sites Replace myIIT Group Studio

    The myIIT portal launched in January 2007 with a Group Studio feature to encourage communication among students, faculty, and staff over common interest areas. With the university's transition to Google Apps for Education/IIT Gmail, the Group Studio interface in myIIT has been discontinued in favor of Google Groups and Sites.

  • Reducing Printing at IIT

    Reducing Printing at IIT

    Beginning this fall, free printing credits are being reduced to 250 per semester. The credits will continue to roll over between semesters until the end of the summer term when all accounts are wiped and reloaded with fresh print credits for the fall. Free print credits do not represent actual money, but if students need, they can add their own funds for additional printing.
