    Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News (GEN) announced its “GEN 10” Award winners at the BIO International Convention in Chicago last week, honoring ten Chicago graduate students and postdocs for for excellence in scientific research, four of whom study at Illinois Institute of Technology: Konstantin Andreev, Arathi Jayaraman, Sun Kim, and Stephanie Kunkel.

    Judges Needed for IIT Research Day Student Poster Competition

    The IIT Office of Research is searching for faculty and staff to help recognize the hard work of IIT students and provide valuable feedback by serving as judges for the IIT Research Day Student Poster Competition. The competition is divided into graduate and undergraduate tracks and includes students from various academic departments. Three winners from each track will receive cash awards and plaques.

    IIT Researchers Win American Academy of Environmental Engineering and Science Honor Award

    Illinois Institute of Technology researchers Krishna Pagilla, professor of environmental engineering, Benjamin Stark, professor of biology, and graduate students Marina Arnaldos (Ph.D. ENVE ’12) and Stephanie Kunkel (BIOL) were awarded the Honor Award for University Research by the American Academy of Environmental Engineering and Scientists (AAEES) for their research, “Improving Energy Sustainability of Wastewater Treatment by Low DO Nitrification Process.”
