After being named All-Region on May 9, Ted Howell of Illinois Tech baseball was named Second Team Academic All-America, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Our Scarlet Hawks, the tournament's sixth-seeded, will open up play against third-seeded Dominican University on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Mequon, Wisconsin, at Concordia University Wisconsin's Kapco Park.

Coming into a weather-suspended game leading 4-0 over the Sabres, Tech (17-21, 10-12 NACC) finished off Marian (21-13, 12-10 NACC) to clinch the sixth and final spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. The Scarlet Hawks downed the Sabres 8-7 in 10 innings.
