    Grant Awarded to AIAS IIT Lissette Project

    GRAPHISOFT® and the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) proudly announce the selection of the 2012 GRAPHISOFT AIAS Freedom by Design Grant recipient. This year, GRAPHISOFT and the AIAS partnered to award $1,500 to one AIAS chapter for an upcoming AIAS Freedom by Design project. The 2012 grant recipient is the AIAS Illinois Institute of Technology Chapter for the Lissette Project.

  • SAT Dean Bob Carlson Meets with Former Lithuanian President and IIT Alumnus Valdas Adamkus

    Former Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus (CE ′61, Hon. Ph.D. ′99) met with Bob Carlson, dean of IIT School of Applied Technology, and Nerijus Pacesa, president of ISM University of Management and Economics, in Vilnius, Lithuania, to discuss joint master and bachelor degree offerings with IIT SAT. IIT President John Anderson had been contacted about the possibility of joint programs and Carlson was sent to Lithuania to discuss the details, which included the use of IIT's Distance Learning facilities to deliver some courses from IIT to the Lithuanian campuses.

  • Renowned Artificial Intelligence Pioneer Marvin Minsky Joins Illinois Institute of Technology Metaphor Research Project

    Marvin Minsky has joined IIT’s Autonomous Dynamic Analysis of Metaphor and Analogy (ADAMA) Project, working on developing new methods for understanding metaphors in multiple languages. Minsky, one of the world’s leading cognitive scientists, is professor of media arts and sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • Fall 2012 IPRO Day a Success, Awards Posted

    Friday, November 30, 2012, marked the culmination of the fall semester’s Interprofessional projects (IPRO). Over 40 teams exhibited and presented their semester long work. Dedicated panels of workplace professionals faculty and graduate students spent the day judging the IPRO Projects, and voted on the best exhibits and presentations.

  • CTBUH and IIT Begin $300,000 Research Project to Study the Life Cycle of Tall Building Structural Systems

    The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), in conjunction with Illinois Institute of Technology, has launched a multi-faceted research project to study the life cycles of various tall building structural systems, sponsored by a $300,000 grant from ArcelorMittal. “A Whole Life Cycle Assessment of the Sustainable Aspects of Structural Systems in Tall Buildings” will create a definitive comparison of the life-cycle implications of steel, concrete and composite structural systems in tall buildings.
