    ComEd Work Along State Street

    ComEd is in the process of running a new transmission line from south of Main Campus to Chicago's Loop. This new line will be installed in the west lane of northbound traffic on State Street. Work will begin in early January 2013 with a new vault installed just north of 31st and State streets.

    Homegoing Services for Debra Washington-Smith

    Friends and colleagues of the late IIT staff member Debra Washington-Smith (sister of Gwendolyn Bowling and aunt of Natasha Washington) are invited to attend her Homegoing Services to be held this week as follows: Viewing on Thursday, December 13 from 4:00–9:00 pm at Gatling's Chapel, located at 1200 East 162nd Street in South Holland, Ill. Services on Friday, December 14 with a wake from 10:00–11:00 am and funeral from 11:00 am–noon at Covenant United Church of Christ, located at 1130 East 154th Street in South Holland, Ill. A repast will follow from 3:30–6:30 pm at Thornridge High School, located at 15000 South Cottage Grove Avenue in Dolton, Ill.

    IIT Boeing Scholars Academy to Host “Creating the Future: Majors and Careers in Technology Innovation”

    This fall, kCura honored the IIT Boeing Scholars Academy with their Geek Grant, a $2,500 award in recognition of “incredible service supporting education and technology in Chicago.” The Academy will use a portion of the funds to host a free public event to introduce IIT Boeing Scholars and other local high school students to various majors and careers in technology areas. “Creating the Future: Majors and Careers in Technology Innovation” will take place in the MTCC’s McCloska Auditorium on Tuesday, January 8 from 6:00–8:00 pm.

    Grant Awarded to AIAS IIT Lissette Project

    GRAPHISOFT® and the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) proudly announce the selection of the 2012 GRAPHISOFT AIAS Freedom by Design Grant recipient. This year, GRAPHISOFT and the AIAS partnered to award $1,500 to one AIAS chapter for an upcoming AIAS Freedom by Design project. The 2012 grant recipient is the AIAS Illinois Institute of Technology Chapter for the Lissette Project.

  • SAT Dean Bob Carlson Meets with Former Lithuanian President and IIT Alumnus Valdas Adamkus

    Former Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus (CE ′61, Hon. Ph.D. ′99) met with Bob Carlson, dean of IIT School of Applied Technology, and Nerijus Pacesa, president of ISM University of Management and Economics, in Vilnius, Lithuania, to discuss joint master and bachelor degree offerings with IIT SAT. IIT President John Anderson had been contacted about the possibility of joint programs and Carlson was sent to Lithuania to discuss the details, which included the use of IIT's Distance Learning facilities to deliver some courses from IIT to the Lithuanian campuses.
