    IIT Innovation Center Parametric Design Competition

    Inspired by IIT's recently announced plans to build a new ‘Innovation Center’ on campus, architecture faculty Alphonso Peluso & John Manaves held the IIT Innovation Center Parametric Design Competition in fall 2012. Students in Arch 427 – Advanced Architectural Computing used the methods, concepts & skill sets covered in the course to develop a parametric design for the new IIT innovation center.

  • Connect to the IIT Secure Wireless Network

    Connect to the IIT Secure Wireless Network

    The Office of Technology Services is updating Main Campus wireless access to take advantage of current encryption methods for the safety and security of our community. This February, OTS will begin retiring the non-encrypted IIT-WiFi wireless network leaving the IIT-Secure network available. The IIT-Secure wireless network can be used in most Main Campus buildings; check the campus wireless map for coverage information.

  • IIT Trustee Martin Cooper (EE ′50, M.S. ′57) and Other Mobile Phone Pioneers Win Draper Prize

    The mobile phone pioneers who laid the groundwork for today’s smartphone will be presented with engineering’s highest honor during a February 19 ceremony in Washington. The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) will honor Martin Cooper, Joel Engel, Richard Frenkiel, Thomas Haug and Yoshihisa Okumura with the Charles Stark Draper Prize, which annually recognizes engineers whose accomplishments have significantly benefited society. Considered the Nobel Prize of engineering, the prize includes a $500,000 award.
