Special Sustainability Forum: IIT Boeing Scholars Present Community Sustainability Projects
July 15, 2013As part of the IIT Boeing Scholars Academy’s summer programming, Scholars have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a weeklong “Serving through STEM (StS) Project” that gives them the opportunity to contribute to a real-world project and see first-hand how STEM-related work can help improve the world. Join us in the E1 auditorium (10 West 32nd Street) on Wednesday, July 24 from 2:30–3:30 pm for the special Sustainability Forum “Serving through STEM: Teen Community Sustainability Projects,” featuring the results of two sustainability-oriented StS Projects completed by teens. -
EPA Honors IIT Landscape Architecture Studio with 1st Place in Campus RainWorks Challenge
April 22, 2013On Monday, April 22, Earth Day, the United States Environmental Protection Agency announces the winners of its Campus RainWorks Challenge, a new design competition created to inspire the next generation of landscape architects, planners and engineers to design and implement innovative green infrastructure systems that mitigate the impacts of urban stormwater while supporting vibrant, sustainable communities. IIT’s team, led by Studio Assistant Professor Mary Pat Mattson and Paul Anderson, was composed of students in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Environmental Management. -
Rice Campus Sustainability Project IPRO
April 4, 2013Illinois Institute of Technology’s green initiatives have expanded beyond the Main Campus. Located in Wheaton, Illinois, the Rice Campus has taken on a new challenge to implement green practices. Susan Camasta and Blake Davis are leading IPRO 497-323: The Rice Campus Sustainability Project. The members of the student team are underway to “greenifying” the building. -
