Eid-ul-Fitr Party/BBQ with the Muslim Students Association and the Malaysian Students Association
August 21, 2013Celebrate the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, by joining the Muslim Students Association and the Malaysian Students Association at their first annual Eid-ul-Fitr Festival. The event theme is "Party/BBQ," so expect a lot of good food and opportunities to socialize and have fun! The festival will be held this coming Saturday, August 24 in the field in front of Gunsaulus Hall. -

VanderCook Music Courses for IIT Students
August 13, 2013Each semester, VanderCook College of Music welcomes IIT students into its program. These students participate in music classes, play in ensembles, take private lessons and are a valued part of the student body. IIT students may take classes at VanderCook not only for enrichment but also to fulfill humanities electives or to even earn a music minor. Registration for IIT students interested in taking fall 2013 VanderCook classes opens on Monday, August 19 at 8:00 am. Registration ends Friday, September 6 at 3:00 pm. -

Register for the New Course on Biometrics This Fall
August 13, 2013The new course "Biometrics" offers an introduction to major biometric techniques, the underlying pattern recognition and computer vision basis for these biometrics, scientific testing and evaluation methodologies of biometrics systems, a deeper study of facial recognition, and an examination of the current privacy and social/ethical issues surrounding this technology. The course includes readings from the literature, short writing assignments and practical experience with current biometric technology. -
Cinema Fans Can Explore the Films of Stanley Kubrick at Shimer College
August 13, 2013Some seats still remain in the Shimer College fall semester film elective exploring the cinema work of Stanley Kubrick. The course couples weekly screenings and background readings with Shimer’s unique discussion format classroom experience. IIT students are welcome to register for either of the two offered section of the course and will earn three automatically-transferred IIT credits at the 300-Humanities level.
