    College of Science and Letters Announces Undergraduate Summer Research Stipend Winners

    The College of Science and Letters (CSL) has chosen eight students to receive this year’s undergraduate summer research stipends. Funded primarily by the college’s board and alumni, the selected students will be given $5,000 for ten weeks of research with IIT faculty during the summer of 2012. The stipends allow students to gain invaluable hands-on research experience, explore their interests, and prepare for their future careers.

    Professional Master’s Student Derik Heiss to Speak at Global Space Exploration Conference

    Derik Heiss, who will graduate from IIT’s master of chemistry in analytical chemistry program this December, will give a talk at this year’s Global Space Exploration Conference (GLEX) in Washington, DC on May 23. Heiss’s presentation is titled “Microchannel Air Revitalization System (MCARS) for Closed-Loop Environmental Control and Life Support."

  • IIT Magazine Explores Crab Lab in Online Exclusive: “There Must Be Something in the Water”

    This winter, IIT’s Life Sciences Building became home to a menagerie of salt-water denizens of the deep: more than 60 green crabs and a male giant Pacific octopus, Enteroctopus dofleini. The sea-nario constitutes the CRAB Lab (Creative Research in Animal Behavior) and comprises four different experiments involving students and faculty from the university’s College of Science and Letters, College of Psychology, and Armour College of Engineering.

  • Support Nature Studio – College of Architecture’s First Graduate Design/Build

    Just a mile and a half south of IIT's Main Campus is an urban nature preserve that has provided a safe and inspiring learning environment for children in need for 15 years. Eden Place Nature Center is located in Fuller Park, one of Chicago’s most neglected neighborhoods, adjacent to an industrial train yard and on the site of what once was an illegal dump afflicted with lead contamination.

  • Gmail, Google Apps for Faculty and Staff Coming Soon

    Office of Technology Services (OTS) will soon begin migrating all faculty and staff email accounts and calendaring to a Gmail and Google Apps for Education environment. The migration will be scheduled department by department. Individual users will be provided with self-migration tools. OTS staff will be on hand for each department's migration to assist.

  • Google Groups to Replace myIIT Group Studio – Convert Now

    As the university completes migration of IIT email accounts and calendaring to Gmail and Google Apps for Education, the calendar that is default in myIIT Group Studio groups will be disabled. Effective immediately, no new Group Studio groups in myIIT will be accepted. Current groups may continue to be used but will be disabled as of June 29, 2012.
